LIV Golf Season Wraps Up Amid Financial Strain

By Editor • August 19, 2026 • 1 min read

The LIV Golf season draws to a close this weekend at Indianapolis, with the 4 Aces GC holding a slim lead in the team championship over Ripper GC. However, the season's finale will not be as grand as initially anticipated.

The much-anticipated event in Plymouth, Michigan, scheduled for August, has been canceled due to financial difficulties. LIV Golf's funding, previously bolstered by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, has dwindled significantly.

This shift has led to a drastic reduction in prize money for the championship events. The bonus pool for the player championship has dropped to $10 million from $30 million, while the team championship's pool has decreased to $30 million from $50 million. Overall, the financial viability of LIV Golf continues to be in question.
