In a significant reshuffle of military leadership, North Korea has removed its defence minister, No Kwang-chol, according to state media reports on Sunday.
The changes were confirmed by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), which stated that the decisions were made during a meeting chaired by Kim Jong-un on Saturday. No Kwang-chol has not only lost his position as defence minister but has also been demoted to the role of first vice-director within the ruling party's Munitions Industry Department.
Kim Song-gi, previously the director of the General Staff, is expected to fill a prominent role following these changes, reflecting an ongoing effort to reorganize the military's structure.
