Met Police Submit Evidence on Al Fayed Sexual Assault Case

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police have delivered a substantial evidential file to the Crown Prosecution Service regarding allegations of sexual assault against the late Mohamed Al Fayed. This file pertains to a suspect in his 80s tied to two incidents involving indecent assault on women in London.

The Crown Prosecution Service is now tasked with evaluating the evidence to determine if charges will be filed, though no timeline has been provided for this decision. The Met has been engaged with seven suspects throughout this investigation, all of whom have been questioned under caution for various offenses related to sexual misconduct.

Operation Cornpoppy, initiated in November 2024, is focused on uncovering the extent of Al Fayed's alleged crimes, with over 400 accusations spanning from 1977 to 2014. A representative from the survivor group No One Above urged the police to ensure that all individuals involved in facilitating these offenses are thoroughly investigated.
