French sales agency MMM Film Sales has secured international rights to the highly anticipated film “Agata the Writer,” featuring Mia Wasikowska. The film is set to debut at the Venice Film Festival in the Venice Days competition.

Directed by Kuba Dorabialski, the story follows Agata, a Polish-Australian novelist who journeys from Sydney to Sarajevo to craft a war novel. As she delves into her writing, local residents challenge her understanding of the region's tumultuous history. The plot thickens when a series of provocative artworks mysteriously vanish, prompting Agata to confront her creative struggles.

The film aims to explore not just the war's impact, but the quiet resilience found in its aftermath. MMM Film Sales expressed admiration for the film's unique perspective on history and storytelling, highlighting Wasikowska's compelling performance as she navigates her connection to her homeland and its unresolved conflicts.

Produced by Alex White, known for “Babyteeth,” “Agata the Writer” is backed by Screen Australia and the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund, marking Dorabialski's debut feature.
