Hillary Clinton Suggests India and China as Key Players in West Asia Peace Efforts

In a recent interview with C-SPAN, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton emphasized the potential role of India and China in resolving the ongoing conflict in West Asia. She stated that if U.S. President Donald Trump opts for diplomacy rather than aggressive tactics, these two nations could be instrumental in fostering peace.
The conflict, which escalated following a U.S.-Israel attack on Iran on February 28, has seen retaliatory strikes and the disruption of crucial shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz. Despite a temporary peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran in June, tensions have reignited, leading to further violence.
Clinton pointed out that both China and India are significant buyers of Iranian oil and gas, making them critical players in the situation. “If you want to figure out how Trump could get out of this, the key is probably China and India,” she noted, underscoring their economic ties to Iran. She specifically highlighted China’s capacity to exert pressure on Tehran due to its substantial fossil fuel reserves.
As the U.S. government prepares to enact additional sanctions against Iran, Clinton suggested that diplomatic efforts involving these two nations could stabilize the situation, especially concerning the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for global energy supplies.
