Sky's the Limit: The Emergence of Space Travel Agents

In a groundbreaking move, Roman Chiporukha, co-owner of the luxury firm Roman & Erica, is reshaping travel by specializing in space tourism. With over 20 years of experience in orchestrating exclusive experiences, he realized the potential of space travel after a 2018 call from Axiom Space, which sought private citizens willing to pay $50 million for a trip to the International Space Station (ISS).
Recognizing a growing market, Chiporukha founded SpaceVIP in 2021, offering tailored celestial adventures that blend culture and science. Despite not being an astronaut or aerospace expert, he has educated himself on commercial spaceflight, creating a user-friendly digital portal for aspiring space travelers.
SpaceVIP caters to a select group of clients, curating bespoke journeys that fit their budgets and comfort levels. Collaborating with operators like Axiom, Blue Origin, SpaceX, and Virgin Galactic, clients can choose from options like zero-gravity parabolic flights or luxurious balloon rides high above the Earth. Chiporukha emphasizes that while costs and technology present challenges, fostering public interest is crucial. His initiative, the Space Prize Foundation, aims to inspire underrepresented groups in STEM by offering science competitions that lead to unique space experiences. "Making space more mainstream isn’t just about lowering ticket prices," he asserts. "It’s about opening doors for a broader audience."
