New Pokémon Movie ‘Wild Card’ Set for 2027 Release

During the recent closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, the Pokémon Company announced the arrival of a new animated film, Pokémon: Wild Card, scheduled for release in 2027.

CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara revealed that the story centers on a Pokémon trading-card game player on a quest to become a champion. A teaser was also shared, featuring the player in a yellow hoodie reminiscent of Mimikyu.

Katsuhiko Kitada will direct, with animation by CloverWorks, while a new series, The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu, will premiere in 2027 on Disney+.
