NFL Places Three Players on Exempt List Amid Criminal Charges

By Editor • August 31, 2026 • 1 min read

This past weekend, the NFL announced that three players have been placed on the commissioner's exempt list: Terrion Arnold of the Seattle Seahawks, Jonathon Cooper from the Denver Broncos, and Josh Jacobs of the Green Bay Packers.

All three athletes face criminal charges, with Cooper and Jacobs linked to intimate-partner violence allegations, while Arnold is implicated in a violent robbery and kidnapping case in Florida. Although they cannot play during this period, they will continue to receive their game-day salaries.

The exempt list, gaining prominence after the Ray Rice incident in 2014, allows the league to address serious allegations while investigations proceed.
