The 2026 US Open officially launched with a glamorous Opening Night Gala, drawing a host of celebrities despite the sweltering heat. Attendees included Emma Roberts, Tate McRae, Orlando Bloom, and Paul Anthony Kelly, all eager to witness the night’s exciting matches.
One standout moment was actor Paul Anthony Kelly’s first experience at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. He expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "This is my first US Open. It’s so fun—a lot of back and forth." Kelly was present for a thrilling five-set match where Novak Djokovic faced off against Argentina’s Mariano Navone, which extended past midnight and ended in an unexpected upset with Djokovic's loss.
As the match unfolded, guests relaxed in the newly-designed Moët & Chandon Club de Tennis Suite, enjoying gourmet treats like lobster rolls and a special champagne cocktail, the Moët Serve, which creatively resembled a tennis ball canister.
Among the gala's highlights was the prestigious Serving Up Dreams Award presented to former champion Sloane Stephens. Emceed by Gayle King, the award recognizes individuals who enrich under-resourced communities through tennis and education. "I’m experiencing a lot of different emotions… to be recognized for the work that we are doing is incredibly special," Stephens shared, noting how her foundation has impacted over 7,500 children in the past year alone.
The evening was not just about tennis; it included a live auction that raised an impressive $2.7 million, with King personally pledging $15,000. Notable bids included Ryan Serhant’s $50,000 for an F1 experience in Las Vegas. Guests enjoyed a dessert reception in the President’s Suite of the Arthur Ashe Stadium, followed by an exhilarating match between Djokovic and Navone.
