NT Politician Yiŋiya Guyula Resigns Over CLP Policies
By Editor • August 18, 2026 • 1 min read
Yiŋiya Guyula has resigned from his position as the Member for Mulka, effective immediately, criticizing the Country Liberal Party's (CLP) policies as harmful to Aboriginal communities.
First elected in 2016, Guyula expressed his disappointment, stating he could no longer work with a government unwilling to listen or collaborate. He emphasized that Aboriginal communities are treated as political pawns, with decisions made without genuine partnership.
His resignation will lead to a by-election for the Mulka seat, though the date for this election has yet to be determined.
