Ongoing Flood Risks in Nepal as Lakes Remain Full

Nepal's Disaster Management Authority is closely monitoring two lakes in the flood-affected region, particularly one that began overflowing on August 28, 2026. Officials warn that the threat of flooding will persist until both lakes are completely drained.

To assess the situation, authorities are utilizing satellite imagery, though they face challenges due to limited image availability. Plans are underway to install cameras and sensors downstream, including at Timure near the border, with helicopter deployment also being considered.
