Pakistan has firmly dismissed Indian Home Minister Amit Shah's allegations connecting its intelligence agency, ISI, to a terror network linked to Shahzad Bhatti. In a statement made on August 17, 2026, Shah claimed that over 200 operatives from the ISI-supported Shahzad Bhatti Network were apprehended during security operations across 14 states in India just before Independence Day.
Shah emphasized significant recoveries, including explosives, firearms, and surveillance equipment, suggesting a thwarted plot for attacks. However, Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi labeled these accusations as 'baseless,' asserting that India is attempting to distract from its own security issues.
The Shahzad Bhatti Network is alleged to be involved in violent incidents, including grenade attacks and targeted killings, with ongoing investigations by India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) into several cases linked to Bhatti, an absconder since April 2026.
