Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Defence Forces of Pakistan, is set to travel to Tehran on Monday, as announced by Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei. This visit aims to bolster cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in the realm of peace and security.
Accompanied by an official delegation, CDF Munir intends to engage with high-ranking Iranian officials. His trip comes at a critical time, as Iran faces potential military threats due to upcoming stringent sanctions imposed by the United States, described by officials as 'the toughest sanctions in history.'
Pakistan has actively pursued mediation between Iran and the US amidst escalating conflicts, having previously facilitated a ceasefire and direct talks earlier this year. Despite renewed hostilities, Islamabad continues to play a pivotal role in fostering dialogue between the two nations.
