PM Shehbaz Sharif Heads to Kyrgyzstan for SCO Summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is embarking on a three-day official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic from August 31 to September 2, following an invitation from President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov. This trip centers around the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting.
Accompanying the Prime Minister are notable figures including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan. The visit will see Shehbaz take on Pakistan’s chairmanship of the SCO Council for 2026-2027, alongside participation in the SCO Plus Summit.
On the opening day, he will also attend the World Nomad Games. His discussions with President Zhaparov on September 2 will cover a wide array of topics, from trade and energy to education and tourism, reflecting on the warm ties and mutual interests shared between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan. Furthermore, the visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation and strengthen the enduring partnership between the two nations.
