Protect Your AI Accounts from Unauthorized Access

With the increasing reliance on AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, protecting your accounts from hacking attempts has become essential. A recent guide by TechCrunch outlines several steps to secure your accounts and identify potential breaches.

One of the primary recommendations is to use unique passwords and enable multi-factor authentication (MFA). While ChatGPT and Perplexity support MFA, Claude opts for a different approach by sending a login link directly to your email, eliminating the need for a password.

To check for unauthorized access on ChatGPT, navigate to your account settings by clicking your username in the bottom left corner, then proceeding to "Settings," followed by "Security and Login," and finally "Active Sessions." Here, you can see all devices currently logged into your account. If any look unfamiliar, you can either log out of that specific device or log out of all sessions. To change your password, log out, and request a password reset via the "Forgot password" option, which will send a code to your email.

For Claude users, the process is similar. After accessing your account settings, you can view "Active sessions" and log out of any suspicious entries by clicking the three vertical dots next to them. Since Claude does not use passwords, you will need to log back in via an email link.

Perplexity, however, does not provide a list of active sessions. If you suspect a breach, you can log out of all sessions by selecting "Sign out of all sessions" in the settings. You can then log back in using your email and a six-digit code sent to you.
