A recent incident in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, has raised concerns about workplace practices after a young financial consultant suffered severe muscle breakdown as a result of an extreme punishment imposed by her manager.

The employee, identified only by her surname Yang, was subjected to the grueling task of completing 200 squats after failing to meet work expectations, which included making 200 calls and securing at least one client.

This harsh response from her manager, surnamed Zhang, has sparked outrage and highlighted the potential dangers of punitive measures in the workplace.
