Putin Looks Forward to Meeting Modi at SCO Summit

During a recent meeting at the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his anticipation of seeing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Putin conveyed his regards through Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who was in Moscow to discuss bilateral cooperation.

"I hope to see him soon, as we planned," Putin stated, underlining the importance of the summit and hinting at the possibility of additional meetings later in the year. Jaishankar reiterated Modi’s eagerness to engage with Putin at both the SCO summit and the forthcoming BRICS Summit in India.

In his discussions with First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Jaishankar highlighted the extensive areas of collaboration between India and Russia, including trade, energy, and technology. He stressed the target of reaching $100 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 while addressing concerns over trade imbalances. Jaishankar pointed out that enhancing market access and strengthening business relations are essential to achieving this goal.
