Queensland Basks in Sunshine as Winter Fades Away

By Editor • August 28, 2026 • 1 min read

This weekend, Queensland is set to enjoy a delightful preview of spring, featuring warm temperatures and abundant sunshine across much of the state.

According to David Crocker, a senior meteorologist with the Bureau of Meteorology, while most regions bask in pleasant weather, scattered showers are expected along the coast, particularly near the Sunshine Coast and K'gari.

Showers will intensify on Sunday, especially for the northern coastal areas, before transitioning inland. Brisbane’s forecast predicts partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-20s, while isolated showers may sweep through on Sunday.

Additionally, strong winds are anticipated from Townsville to Bowen, with hazardous surf conditions affecting the region. As September approaches, warmer air from Central Queensland is expected to influence temperatures, possibly reaching the 30s in Brisbane and Ipswich.

Crocker noted that while the weather pattern appears stable, there's a slim chance of a final cold spell later in the month.
