Randy Quaid, known for his role in the original "Days of Thunder," has expressed his discontent regarding Anne Hathaway's casting in the sequel alongside Tom Cruise. Taking to X, Quaid insisted that Nicole Kidman should reprise her role as Dr. Claire Lewicki, stating, "You need the original girl" and labeling Hathaway as an unsuitable choice for the NASCAR audience.

Quaid criticized Hathaway, implying she isn't fitting for the role and called her a "leftist, woke" choice. He emphasized that bringing back Kidman would enhance the film's appeal, especially given the nostalgic connection to the original.

The sequel is set for a theatrical release in June 2028, nearly four decades after the first installment.
