Fashion enthusiasts and collectors alike can mark their calendars for September 15, 2026, when an unprecedented auction will unfold in London, featuring 265 rare items from the esteemed Comme des Garçons brand.

Octavius La Rosa, the founder of Melbourne's Dot Comme and a passionate collector of the avant-garde label, is behind this significant sale in collaboration with Kerry Taylor Auctions. La Rosa, who has dedicated over five decades to curating his collection, will offer pieces that showcase the evolution of founder Rei Kawakubo’s work, stretching back to the label's inception in 1973.

Among the auction highlights are a striking black raincoat from the 1970s, a wool ensemble from the A/W 1981 'Pirates' collection, and a trompe l'oeil dress from the A/W 2005 'Broken Bride' collection. These garments not only reflect the innovative spirit of Comme des Garçons but also represent key moments in fashion history.

La Rosa's journey with Comme des Garçons began at just 18 years old during a trip to Tokyo, where he discovered treasures in second-hand stores. His devotion to the brand has only deepened over the years, as he continues to spend a significant portion of his time immersed in its world.

With Rei Kawakubo, now 83, being a pivotal figure in contemporary fashion, the auction presents a rare opportunity for collectors to own pieces that embody her groundbreaking vision. The collection will be on public display at Kerry Taylor Auctions from September 11 to 14 before the bidding begins.
