In a significant boost for AI innovation, Reach Capital has successfully closed its $265 million Fund V, aimed at supporting founders who are developing AI applications to enhance human capabilities. Tony Wan, head of platform at Reach Capital, emphasized the firm’s commitment to ensuring that AI promotes human flourishing rather than replacing it.

The San Francisco-based venture firm plans to invest between $1 million and $10 million in approximately 50 companies over the next three years, focusing on sectors such as education, health, and employment. So far, no investments have been made through this new fund.

General partner Jomayra Herrera highlighted the swift fundraising process, completed in less than six months, with existing limited partners showing strong support and new high-profile investors joining. The fund has attracted limited partners like Capricorn Investment Group, the LEGO Foundation, and the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions.

Reach Capital has a history of impactful investments, with previous funds raising $215 million and $165 million in recent years. The firm’s strategic focus aligns with current trends in the venture capital landscape, where specialized funds are gaining favor amid a market dominated by larger, established firms.
