Revolutionizing Denim: BodyCodes Tailors Fit for Every Woman

By Editor • August 26, 2026 • 1 min read

The fashion industry has long struggled with the challenge of fitting women appropriately, with a staggering six billion pairs of jeans produced annually based on the flawed assumption that the female form is predominantly hourglass-shaped. Cricket Lee, the founder and CEO of Apparel Genetics, is tackling this issue head-on with her innovative BodyCodes system.

BodyCodes shifts the focus from size to shape, allowing for a more personalized fit. With this technology, Neems, the first manufacturer to license the system, will produce a custom pant called One Jean, which can adapt as a woman’s shape fluctuates. Lee noted, “Women feel debilitated when they can’t find clothes that fit easily,” highlighting the emotional toll of ill-fitting clothing.

Instead of relying on body scans, BodyCodes utilizes a questionnaire to categorize users into one of four distinct body shapes, addressing the needs of 95 percent of women, in contrast to the hourglass model that fits only 20.4 percent globally. As Lee continues to expand this technology, she aims to revolutionize not only denim but also other apparel categories, ultimately creating a more inclusive fashion landscape.
