Sanchez Accuses Israel and Russia of Disinformation in Ceuta Migrant Crisis

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has leveled accusations against Israel and Russia, claiming both nations propagated disinformation regarding the July migrant influx in Ceuta, a Spanish exclave in North Africa. Speaking to Cadena Ser radio, Sanchez cited findings from the European Union’s European External Action Service, asserting that social media platforms linked to these countries amplified false narratives surrounding the crisis.

According to Sanchez, this alleged smear campaign was also fueled by far-right networks, motivated by opposition to Spain's stance on the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. He emphasized that there was no evidence implicating Moroccan authorities in the surge of migrants, as confirmed by collaborating intelligence services. Of the approximately 70,000 migrants who entered Ceuta, most have since been returned to Morocco.
