Sonic's 'Hotumn' Sodas: A Seasonal Blend That Falls Flat

As summer winds down, Sonic Drive-In has introduced its new "Hotumn" drink collection, aiming to blend the vibrant flavors of summer with the cozy essence of fall. Launched on August 24, this seasonal lineup features a mix of "dirty sodas" and a flavored tea, each crafted to evoke the spirit of autumn while providing a refreshing escape from the lingering summer heat.

The Hotumn drinks include Cherry Pie with Coke, Blueberry Pie with Dr Pepper, Harvest Berry with Sprite, and a Cranberry Orchard sweet tea. The concept is intriguing, promising a delightful fusion of fruity flavors rather than the typical pumpkin-spice overload that heralds the fall season.

Curiosity got the better of me, and despite my usual rule of waiting until September to embrace fall flavors, I decided to sample all four offerings. This combination, while creative, left me yearning for more cranberry presence, as the tea tasted predominantly of peach, reminiscent of bottled peach iced teas rather than a distinct autumn drink.
