Stalking Charges Dropped Against Man Linked to Sabrina Carpenter

In a surprising turn of events, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office announced the dismissal of charges against 31-year-old William Applegate, who faced allegations of stalking singer Sabrina Carpenter. This decision follows a mental competency hearing where Applegate was deemed unfit to stand trial.

The stalking incidents reportedly began on August 23 last year, with additional charges stemming from a troubling encounter on May 23. During that incident, Applegate was captured on Carpenter's home security footage attempting to force his way into her residence.

Despite city prosecutors' objections, the court granted the dismissal, leading to the dropping of charges that also included trespassing and battery. In response to Applegate's harassment, Carpenter was granted a restraining order in June.

Applegate's behavior escalated to alarming levels, with Carpenter's legal representatives alleging he had been stalking her since late April. Applegate claimed in court filings that he and Carpenter were involved in a classified military program and insisted that their union was crucial for global security, statements that Carpenter firmly disputed, stating they have never met.
