Supreme Court Ruling Paves Way for Trump's Mail Voting Restrictions

Trump's executive order, signed in March, mandates that the U.S. Postal Service send mail ballots only to a specified list of eligible voters. The urgency of the situation is underscored by the impending election, with some states poised to distribute mail ballots shortly. A Massachusetts judge had previously blocked the implementation of Trump’s plan, a decision upheld by an appeals court, which led to the Trump administration's appeal to the Supreme Court.

Federal attorneys have claimed that the Massachusetts order hampers the government's ability to finalize policies aimed at enhancing electoral integrity ahead of the elections. Support for the federal appeal also came from numerous Republican-led states, emphasizing the need for input on voter lists.

Despite ongoing controversies and Trump's repeated claims of election fraud, mail-in voting has gained traction, with 30 percent of ballots expected to be cast this way in the upcoming elections, according to federal data.
