Sur La Table Launches Resale Platform to Make Cookware More Affordable

By Editor • August 25, 2026 • 1 min read

In a bold move to cater to budget-conscious cooking enthusiasts, Sur La Table has launched its own resale platform named Second Servings. This initiative allows customers to buy and sell secondhand cookware, offering discounts of up to 70% off original prices.

CEO Dan Goldman emphasizes that the platform aims to make premium cooking products accessible to those who may not afford them otherwise. He believes the resale site will attract younger customers, fostering long-term relationships with new clients who might be new to the brand.

Sur La Table’s Second Servings allows sellers to list items ranging from sauté pans to espresso machines, seamlessly integrating original product details and images. The platform suggests prices based on condition, with most items selling between 50% and 70% less than retail.

Unlike established resale marketplaces like eBay, Sur La Table seeks to offer a curated experience, enhancing customer satisfaction by providing direct access to brand-specific information. Emily Gittins, CEO of Archive, the technology partner for the site, notes that brand-owned resale platforms can draw in customers who might not consider secondhand options otherwise.

Beyond affordability, the initiative promotes sustainability by encouraging the purchase of durable cookware, which is often designed to last for decades. Goldman points out that well-maintained items, like seasoned cast iron pans, can even improve over time, making them valuable assets.

As Sur La Table analyzes data on product popularity and longevity, the insights gained may influence future product development, ensuring that the company meets consumer demands for durability and value.
