Syria's President Names Former SDF Leader as Presidential Advisor

In a significant political shift, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has appointed Mazloum Abdi, the former leader of the now-dissolved Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as a presidential advisor. This development, reported by the state news agency Sana, follows the recent announcement by Abdi regarding the SDF's dissolution and its full integration into the Syrian military.
The appointment, formalized through Decree No 164, places Abdi in a role that is less influential than the one initially offered earlier this year, where he was considered for deputy defense minister and governor of Hasakah province.
Al-Sharaa’s efforts to incorporate Kurdish forces into the Syrian government gained momentum after a ceasefire established control over several key cities, including Raqqa and Deir Az Zor. With the SDF now officially dissolved, the Syrian government appears closer to achieving its goal of national reunification.
