Tokyo is set to host the second edition of the Tokyo IP Market: Adaptation & Remake from October 28-30, 2026, inviting international buyers to explore Japanese intellectual properties.
This year, eight prominent entities, including Toei, Shochiku, and Kadokawa, will participate, showcasing their assets at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center. This expansion from last year's six participants highlights a growing interest in adapting Japanese manga, novels, and films for global audiences.
Shochiku plans to leverage its extensive library, which features classics from Yasujiro Ozu, while Toei aims to capitalize on its success with overseas adaptations like "Power Rangers." The event, now part of TIFFCOM's 23rd edition and running concurrently with the Tokyo International Film Festival, promises fruitful discussions on licensing and co-production opportunities.
