Tottenham Secures Savio for £75 Million: What to Expect from the Brazilian Winger

Tottenham Hotspur has made a significant addition to their squad by signing Brazilian winger Savio from Manchester City for an initial fee of £75 million. The deal could potentially rise to £85 million with add-ons. Savio, who has penned a long-term contract, arrives in North London after a year of speculation and failed attempts by Spurs to secure his talents last summer.

The 22-year-old expressed his excitement about the move, stating, "It's a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world." His decision was influenced by a conversation with head coach Roberto de Zerbi, who emphasized his commitment to helping Savio reach his full potential.

Savio's journey began when he joined Manchester City from French club Troyes in 2024 for £30.8 million. During his time at City, he made 84 appearances, netting seven goals and providing 16 assists. However, his playing time dwindled last season, as he started only seven Premier League matches.

Under Tottenham's management, Savio aims to reclaim his momentum. Known for his creativity and attacking prowess, he brings energy and a knack for changing games in wide positions. De Zerbi praised his ability to take on defenders and create chances, highlighting his importance to the team.

As Savio transitions to Tottenham, he will revert to using his first name on his jersey, a nod to his time at Girona. Spurs have also added other players to their ranks this summer, including Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, totaling an impressive £312 million in new signings.
