Tragic Collision on A66 Claims Multiple Lives

In the early hours of today, a devastating crash on the A66 near Middlesbrough resulted in multiple fatalities. The incident involved a police vehicle and a Volkswagen Passat, occurring around 3:39 AM in South Bank, according to Cleveland Police.

A substantial emergency response was mobilized, with 14 ambulance crews dispatched to the scene. Despite the efforts of paramedics, several individuals lost their lives at the scene, as confirmed by the North East Ambulance Service.

Authorities have closed the road in both directions between Normanby Road and Church Lane, advising motorists to seek alternative routes. Cleveland Police emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation and urged the public to refrain from speculation as they work on identifying the victims and notifying their families.
