Two Men Sentenced for Disturbing Home Invasion and Assault in Victoria

By Editor • August 19, 2026 • 1 min read

In a chilling incident that left a family traumatized, two men have been sentenced for their roles in a violent home invasion in central Victoria. Joshua Day, in his 30s, and 29-year-old Joshua Snow were convicted after forcing a man to urinate on his partner and parading her around like a dog while their children slept nearby.

The harrowing events unfolded on December 6, 2023, when the duo, armed with sawn-off shotguns and under the influence of methamphetamine, invaded the couple's home to confront the woman over an alleged $5,000 debt. During the assault, they subjected her to physical violence, including multiple punches to the face, and coerced her partner into humiliating acts.

Judge John Kelly condemned the men's actions as "appalling and inexcusable," describing the violence as "cartoonishly gratuitous." Snow received a sentence of 11 years and four months, with a non-parole period of seven years. Day was sentenced to nine years and four months, with a six-year non-parole period. Both had already spent over two years in custody prior to sentencing.

The court also heard that the assault deeply affected the victims, with two diagnosed with PTSD and one requiring psychiatric care. The judge noted their criminal history, highlighting a pattern of violent behavior and suggesting their chances of rehabilitation were slim.

In a disturbing turn, Snow threatened the couple's children during the attack, warning he would harm them if they sought help from authorities. Despite their guilty pleas, which spared the victims from testifying at trial, Judge Kelly emphasized the need for accountability in home invasion cases, stating, "Others in the community need to know invading another home with sawn-off shotguns will cost you your freedom."
