Txintxua Films, known for its successful Netflix series "Intimacy," has partnered with Mexican director Ernesto Martínez Bucio on his upcoming feature, "This Is the Memory I Would Like to Have of Mom." This poignant film, produced alongside Colectivo Colmena, delves into themes of grief, memory, and family ties.
The project, selected for the San Sebastián Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum, follows 27-year-old Marina as she grapples with her mother’s passing and her own cancer diagnosis. Utilizing cassettes of her mother’s voice and creating fabricated memories, Marina’s journey reflects the complexities of familial grief.
Martínez Bucio, whose previous film "The Devil Smokes" won the Berlinale Perspectives Award, co-wrote "This Is the Memory" with Karen Plata. The film is currently in development and has secured support from Spain’s ICAA Film Board.
Marian Fernández Pascal of Txintxua highlighted her long-standing collaboration with Martínez Bucio and Plata, emphasizing the organic nature of their partnership. As the project gears up for its international debut at San Sebastián, Fernández Pascal sees the Co-Production Forum as a vital opportunity to connect with industry allies.
