In a significant escalation, U.S. forces conducted strikes on two Iranian launchers located on Larak Island on Sunday. This operation, confirmed by a U.S. official, is the first military action against Iran since late July.
The official indicated that the strikes were prompted by observations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps preparing to launch rockets and sea mines into the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Reacting to the attack, Iran's Revolutionary Guards reported casualties among soldiers and civilians, vowing a retaliatory response, according to state media. Meanwhile, the U.S. President had previously warned that any further mining activities in the Strait would result in destruction.
As the conflict nears the six-month mark, the recent strikes come amid a backdrop of stalled warfare and rising tensions, with the U.S. threatening sanctions on nations aiding Iran.
