Negotiations between the U.S. and Canada have collapsed, resulting in significant tariffs on Canadian products that began Saturday. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney responded to the news by pledging to implement matching tariffs to safeguard Canadian workers and businesses.
The absence of a trade agreement means that new tariffs, reaching up to 50%, will affect approximately $20 billion worth of Canadian exports to the U.S.
