The United Arab Emirates has successfully intercepted a drone originating from Iran while asserting that claims of an attack on its Al Menhad airbase are untrue. This incident unfolds against a backdrop of heightened hostilities between the United States and Iran, marking a significant escalation since July.
Iran’s military announced the launch of numerous drones targeting U.S. assets at the Al Menhad airbase early Monday. However, the UAE Ministry of Defence quickly refuted these claims, urging the public to seek information from official sources and to avoid spreading rumors. Following these statements, the UAE air force confirmed the interception of the drone over its territorial waters.
This confrontation follows an overnight exchange of strikes between U.S. forces and Iran, with the U.S. targeting Iranian launchers on Larak Island. In retaliation, Iran attacked two bases utilized by U.S. forces in Jordan and at the UAE airbase, as reported by Iranian media.
Anwar Mohammed Gargash, an advisor to the UAE president, criticized the renewed violence, calling the strategy of attacking Gulf states a failure and emphasizing the need for political solutions and de-escalation in the region.
