UK Bank Holiday Weekend Set for Wet Weather and Thunderstorms

The upcoming Bank Holiday weekend in the UK is predicted to be dominated by heavy rainfall and showers, potentially dampening outdoor plans. Following a notably dry summer, the Met Office warns of unsettled weather conditions across England and Wales this Saturday.

Thunderstorms are likely to develop in certain areas by the afternoon, with forecasts indicating up to 95% rain coverage in major cities such as London, Manchester, and Cardiff. Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to hover in the high teens.

Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern noted that while gusty winds will make it feel cooler, central and southern Scotland may enjoy some sunny spells in between the downpours. Sunday is set to start with a strong breeze and continued heavy showers, with London experiencing light rain in the early afternoon.

As the weekend progresses, however, Monday could offer some relief with brighter conditions and temperatures reaching up to 22C in London. Cardiff may also see a sunnier afternoon after a rainy morning, while Manchester and Scotland could remain under persistent rain.
