Upcoming Witcher 3 Expansion Lacks Russian Voice Acting

CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the forthcoming expansion, Songs of the Past, for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not feature Russian voice acting. Upon release, the game's audio will default to Polish, although text translations will remain available. Russian voice acting will still be present in the original game and its earlier expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

This decision follows the studio's move in March 2022 to cease collaboration with tax residents of Russia and Belarus, igniting a wave of discussion among Russian fans. The official announcement posted in a Russian-language Telegram community amassed over 2,000 comments, showcasing the strong reactions from fans compared to fewer than 300 comments on other content announcements.

Songs of the Past, which features Geralt of Rivia visiting a new region called Letten, is scheduled for release in 2027, although a specific date has yet to be disclosed. This announcement came during Gamescom in Cologne, where a trailer for the expansion was unveiled on August 25.
