Walmart Embraces Mobile Payments with Apple Pay and Google Pay

In a significant shift, Walmart will introduce Apple Pay and Google Pay at select locations starting August 24th. The retail leader plans to expand this feature to all U.S. stores by the end of 2026 and to gas stations by mid-2027.
This move comes as Walmart was among the last major retailers to adopt these popular payment methods, previously backing CurrentC and launching Walmart Pay in 2016.
