The popular pub chain described its establishments as 'an oasis of tranquillity' and urged patrons to keep noise levels down by using earphones instead.

This decision follows a surge in complaints regarding disturbances caused by sounds emanating from smartphones and tablet devices, which the company identified as a growing issue in recent years.
