Amazon is revolutionizing the shopping experience for viewers of Prime Video by introducing a suite of new features aimed at seamlessly integrating product discovery into the streaming process. Announced on Thursday, these enhancements build on the existing X-Ray feature, which already provides real-time information about actors, character names, and soundtracks.
New Shopping Features for Viewers
In an effort to make product recommendations more accessible, Amazon has unveiled a new option called 'Shop the Scene.' This feature utilizes Amazon Lens technology, allowing viewers to shop for items related to what they see on the screen. By pausing their video and accessing the X-Ray experience, users can navigate to a new 'Shop' tab showcasing products connected to their current show or movie.
Expanding the 'Shop the Show' Experience
The 'Shop the Show' feature, initially launched last year, is also undergoing significant improvements. What was once limited to 1,300 titles is now expanding to over 8,000, encompassing Prime Originals, select licensed content, and live sports. Users can now easily access storefronts related to the titles they are watching without needing to search, enhancing the overall user experience.
Seamless Browsing with Visual Technology
In addition to the expanded catalog, the 'Shop the Scene' feature is now live for iOS and Android users in the U.S. This technology allows fans to tap on an image to identify products inspired by the wardrobes and decor seen in their favorite shows, although not every item may be available for purchase. Still, it provides a great starting point for anyone looking to replicate a character's style or home aesthetic.
