Amazon Leverages AI to Combat Scam Messages

In a bid to enhance consumer safety, Amazon has unveiled a new AI feature that helps customers determine the authenticity of messages claiming to be from the retailer. Announced on Wednesday, this initiative aims to address the concerns of the approximately 360,000 customers who annually question the legitimacy of communications they receive.
The AI, integrated into Alexa for Shopping, can verify whether a message originated from Amazon by scrutinizing billions of past messages. It evaluates sender details, message content, and metadata for accuracy. As users report more suspicious messages, the system will evolve, increasing its effectiveness in detecting scams.
This feature follows Amazon's proactive measures against scams, including a dedicated email address, [email protected], for forwarding dubious messages, as well as an online form for confirmations. Additionally, Alexa has expanded its capabilities, assisting shoppers with personalized deals, shopping guides, and alerts for new products from favorite brands.
