HiddenLayer Secures $100M Funding Amid Growing Demand for AI Security Solutions

In a significant boost for AI security, HiddenLayer has successfully raised $100 million in its latest funding round, capitalizing on a rapidly expanding market for AI protection tools. The Austin-based startup, known for its technology that safeguards AI models from adversarial threats, has seen an impressive surge in demand for its services, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced AI security as more businesses adopt these technologies.
Three years ago, HiddenLayer raised $50 million in a Series A round, leaving many questioning the viability of its market. However, the landscape has shifted dramatically, with Gartner projecting that organizations will spend $2.83 billion on AI security products this year—a staggering 83% increase from 2025. This figure is expected to swell to nearly $4.78 billion by next year, reflecting a newfound urgency in securing AI operations.
Chris Sestito, co-founder and CEO of HiddenLayer, reported that the company’s annual recurring revenue has skyrocketed more than tenfold over the past year, driven predominantly by new client acquisitions. While he did not disclose specific figures, he confirmed that the revenue now falls within the “tens of millions” range. The financial sector and large tech firms are currently the startup's primary clientele, and they also hold contracts with the Department of Defense.
The latest funding round was spearheaded by Delta-v Capital, with participation from other notable investors including Ten Eleven Ventures, Morgan Stanley, and Microsoft’s M12. Sestito explained that while HiddenLayer continues to offer its core products—such as discovery and runtime protection—it has expanded its focus to include emerging threats like prompt injection and agent manipulation.
As AI deployments become ubiquitous, the need for robust runtime security has intensified, akin to traditional endpoint detection systems but tailored for AI applications. Sestito highlighted the need to validate the integrity of open-source models, as attackers are increasingly targeting these frameworks. The new capital will aid HiddenLayer in broadening its sales, engineering, and research efforts, as well as facilitating expansion into European markets.
Despite the competitive landscape, with larger cybersecurity firms potentially eyeing acquisition opportunities, Sestito remains focused on scaling HiddenLayer’s offerings in tandem with the evolving AI landscape. He envisions a future where the startup not only maintains its foothold in AI security but also expands into broader cybersecurity realms influenced by artificial intelligence.
