Political scientist Claudio Fantini interpreted Trump's remarks as a strategic warning to the UK, rather than an announcement of a new policy. He noted that the context surrounding the comments relates more to Britain's refusal to allow U.S. military operations against Iran from its bases than to any actual change in sovereignty discussions. Fantini emphasized that Argentina should make the most of this statement, framing it as an opportunity for dialogue.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Puricelli of the Public Policy Laboratory characterized the Falklands as a convenient excuse for the UK to increase its military spending. He pointed out that Argentina's interests are not a priority in any potential U.S. review of the islands' legal status. Andrés Malamud of the Institute of Social Sciences in Lisbon echoed this sentiment, predicting that any developments would mirror past inaction regarding Greenland.

Argentine officials are expressing varied reactions to Trump's comments.
