Andy Keeling Takes on Interim CEO Role at Cornwall Council

In an unexpected turn of events, Andy Keeling, the former chief executive of the Falkland Islands government, has been appointed as the interim deputy chief executive at Cornwall Council. This transition comes following the leave of absence of current chief executive Kate Kennally.

Keeling is set to begin his new role this week, stepping into a crucial leadership position during a time of uncertainty for the council. A spokesperson for Cornwall Council clarified that while a chief executive is absent, it is permissible for another officer to assume their responsibilities, hence Keeling's temporary appointment.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the table, Keeling previously led the Falkland Islands government from 2021 to 2025 and has also held the position of chief operating officer at Leicester City Council. Cornwall Council leader Leigh Frost expressed confidence in Keeling's capabilities, stating that his leadership will be invaluable during this critical period. "We are grateful to him for stepping into the role at such short notice," Frost remarked.
