World Athletics is backing this innovative championship format in response to the need for high-stakes events between major championships. Sebastian Coe, the president of World Athletics, envisions this competition as an experimental platform that may influence future World Championships. Athletes will compete in 28 finals, showcasing not only their skills but also the potential to earn substantial cash prizes—$150,000 for each event winner, doubling last year's offerings at the World Championships.
