In a significant ruling, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has granted bail to 96 individuals, including ex-senator Mushtaq Ahmad, who were arrested during a protest over the unrest in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The court's decision came on Monday, as Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved the bail applications against surety bonds of Rs5,000 each. The group was arrested following a protest on July 31, which was marked by allegations of public disorder and violence.

An FIR filed at the Shalimar Police Station accused Ahmad of leading around 400 to 500 demonstrators in Sector F-10. He reportedly made incendiary speeches through loudspeakers, prompted shop closures, and directed slogans against governmental institutions. The protest escalated, leading to road blockades and vandalism, including the damage of a media vehicle and confrontations with police.
