Labor MP Ed Husic has made a comeback to work following a serious car accident in Sydney last month, which left him with a concussion and fractures. The incident occurred on August 4 when Husic's vehicle collided with a truck and another car on the M7 motorway.
In his first public comments since the accident, Husic expressed gratitude for his recovery, stating he feels "very lucky" to have walked away from the crash. He shared that he has no recollection of the events surrounding the incident, saying, "I am completely blanked of my memory from midday of the day in which the accident occurred through to when I regained consciousness in the emergency department."
Husic, who was discharged from the hospital the following day, described the pain he’s experiencing, especially when sneezing, due to a hairline fracture in one of his vertebrae. He acknowledged the support he received from colleagues and the community during his recovery.
As he prepares to return to parliament next week, he emphasized the importance of taking it easy following his concussion. Despite the setback, Husic remains eager to engage in issues that matter to his constituents and has released dash cam footage of the crash to the police.
