Farage's Reform Party Slips to Third Place in Polls Amid Controversy

Nigel Farage's Reform UK party has experienced a significant drop in the latest opinion polls, landing in third place for the first time in 18 months. According to a More in Common poll released on September 1, the right-wing party garnered just 22 percent of voter intentions, trailing Labour and the Conservatives by four and one point, respectively.
This decline follows Farage's recent by-election victory in Clacton, which did little to uplift the party's spirits amid mounting scrutiny over his financial dealings. Notably, Farage is facing a parliamentary investigation concerning a £5 million donation from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne, which he asserts was not politically motivated.
Despite returning to Parliament, the internal dynamics of Reform UK appear strained. Infighting has emerged, highlighted by the suspension of prominent ally Tom Montgomerie for publicly criticizing home affairs spokesperson Zia Yusuf. As the political landscape shifts, the Conservative Party is seeing its highest approval ratings since January, while Farage's popularity has dipped significantly.
