Finecut, a sales agent based in Seoul, has acquired the international sales rights for the animated feature "Guardians of the Video Game," ahead of the Toronto market. This film, based on the popular Naver Webtoon by Gasfard, has already garnered an impressive 345 million views.
The story takes place in a vibrant, hidden world beneath video games, where a guild of guardians ensures the games run smoothly and players enjoy their experiences. The narrative follows a guardian exiled from polished 3D environments as he navigates a retro pixelated RPG, guiding an unsuspecting hero while uncovering a sinister plot.
Directed by Uhm Young-sik, known for projects like "Running Man: Revengers," the film is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in Q4 2026. Finecut will unveil the first footage during the Toronto market, alongside other notable titles such as "Long Long Night" and "Nowhere to Lay My Eyes," which have already made waves at international festivals.
